Google Search also known as Google Web Search or simply Google is a web search engine developed by Google LLC. It is the most popular and most used search engine on the World. Google Search Engine has a market share of 92.62% as of June 2019. It has the capability of handling more than 5.4 billion searches per day.

The order of search results returned by Google Search Engine is based, in part, on a priority rank system called “Page Rank”. Google Search also provides many different options for customized search, using symbols to include, exclude, specify or require certain search behavior, and offers specialized interactive experiences, such as flight status and package tracking, weather forecasts, currency, unit and time conversions, word definitions, and more.

Competitors of Google Search Engine include Baidu and Soso.com in China; Naver.com and Daum.net in South Korea; Yandex in Russia; Seznam.cz in the Czech Republic; Yahoo in Japan, Taiwan and the US, as well as Bing and DuckDuckGo.

There are however, other smaller search engines that rival Google search engine in areas of providing facilities not available with Google.  Example of such facilities not available on Google search engine is the incapability of not storing any private or tracking information.

It may interest you to know that despite all these other search engines, Google search engine has continued to wax stronger.  Bing search engine is a web search engine owned and operated by Microsoft. The service has its origins in Microsoft’s previous search engines: MSN SearchWindows Live Search and later Live Search. Just like Google search engine, Bing search engine provides a variety of search services, including web, video, image and map search products. It is developed using ASP.NET.

On May 28, 2009, in San Diego, California, Microsoft in a conference (All Things Digital) through its CEO Steve Ballmer unveiled Bing search engine as Microsoft’s replacement for Live Search, was unveiled by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer on May 28, 2009, at the All Things Digital conference in San Diego, California.

It was revealed to be released on June 3, 2009. Although, Bing Search Engine had limitations at that time, however, notable new features included the listing of search suggestions while queries are entered, and a list of related searches based on semantic technology from Powerset, which Microsoft had acquired in 2008.

In July 2009, Microsoft and Yahoo struck a deal in which Bing would power Yahoo! Search. All Yahoo! Search global customers and partners made the transition by early 2012.The deal were altered in 2015, meaning Yahoo! was only required to use Bing for a “majority” of searches.

In October 2011, Microsoft stated that they were working on new back-end search infrastructure with the goal of delivering faster and slightly more relevant search results for users. Known as “Tiger”, the new index-serving technology had been incorporated into Bing globally since August that year. In May 2012, Microsoft announced another redesign of its search engine that includes “Sidebar”, a social feature that searches users’ social networks for information relevant to the search query.

As of October 2018, Bing Search engine is the third largest search engine globally, with a query volume of 4.58%, behind Google (77%) and Baidu (14.45%). Yahoo! Search, which Bing largely powers, has 2.63%.

Originally, “Yahoo Search” referred to a Yahoo-provided interface that sent queries to a searchable index of pages supplemented with its directory of websites. The results were presented to the user under the Yahoo! brand. Originally, none of the actual web crawling and data housing was done by Yahoo! itself.

Note: Bing search Engine is the 3rd most used search engine in the world behind Google, and Baidu, however, across platforms Yahoo search engine is the second most used search engine.
